Housing security and independence
Ensuring long-term housing security for children with disabilities is one of the biggest fears and challenges for their parents. We worked with two local non-profits to navigate complex zoning codes to create this modest duplex, attached to a modern single family home in Gresham. This efficient two bedroom unit will ensure stable long-term housing for two young adult brothers with developmental disabilities, while also creating the potential for rental income from the main house once their parents are gone. It will also give them a place of their own to manage and live independently while having the safety net of the family onsite. Projects like these fulfill and inspire us to use our skills to create healthy and efficient homes for those who most need them.
